"Tout Passe" (French for "everything shall pass") is the latest offering from the Romanian born and Brooklyn based producer, Dj Center. The track finds Center laying down a deep beat-driven groove, flavored with equal parts down-tempo soul, roots and dub reggae. This growth in Center's sound is a continuum from his soul, jazz and hip-hop foundation. His 2006 mix CD, Feel What I'm Feelin, garnered international acclaim and URB MAGAZINE praised it as, "expertly blended, lovingly conceived..."

This first song from Center's upcoming Summer 2009 EP release, Everything In Time, features the sweet vocals of the Tunisian-French singer, Ms. Samia Farah, whose incredible self-titled debut (Sony Music France, 1999) was a hypnotic blend of soul, dub and reggae. But that album only hinted at what was to come, as she continued her work with UK reggae staple Adrian Sherwood, releasing The Many Moods of Samia Farah (Sam Productions, 2009). Her latest release only furthers her effortless marriage of these genres.

On "Tout Passe," Samia brings her unique signature styling - which could be imagined as a combination between a Tunisian Billie Holiday or French Sarah Vaughan with the deep roots sounds of '70's era Kingston, a la Lee "Scratch" Perry or Bunny "Striker" Lee. These rich jazz-influenced vocals, married with the strong dub sensibility of Dj Center's lush riddim track, follow in the tradition of reggae music as "message" music, with Samia delicately sending lyrics of urgency to oppressed peoples worldwide. Together, Center and Samia are letting us know that despite it all, "everything shall pass." "Tout Passe" indeed!
